Learn more about me and my mission at Divorce in Kindness

In my years of practice as a divorce attorney, I have seen first-hand the devastating emotional and financial damage caused by divorce. It is my honor and privilege to do the job that I do as a family mediator, and bring some kindness, calm and reassurance to the couples going through this difficult time in their lives.

How Divorce in Kindness came to be

I am a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator and the founder of Divorce in Kindness. I am also an attorney licensed to practice in the state of Florida. My law firm is dedicated to collaborative family law and non-adversarial approaches to resolving family disputes.

Throughout my 26 years as an attorney involved in many litigated divorces, paternity actions and other family law matters, I consistently saw my clients go through an emotionally draining, conflictive, devastating and expensive process. Many times the courtroom drama continued even after the divorce was concluded. I grew to believe that even if a marriage could not be saved, it should not have to end in financial and emotional destruction.

This realization caused me to focus on mediation as an advantageous alternative to expensive, conflict-driven and prolonged litigation. Consequently, I attained a Florida Supreme Court certification as a family mediator and founded Divorce in Kindness.

A career dedicated to placing clients' needs first

I am a uniquely qualified mediator and collaborative family attorney. My training, education and experience allow me to effectively communicate with all parties involved in my mediation sessions. Because I have always been fascinated with the study of the human mind and behavior, I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of Miami. I bring to the mediation table over 26 years of experience in courtroom, which gives me the knowledge and competence to grasp complex legal and family issues. This experience, coupled with my bachelor's degree in psychology, has given me a well-rounded background as a family mediator.

In addition to my legal acumen, I pride myself on being an attentive listener with strong processing and interpersonal skills. I am compassionate, insightful and have a keen ability to instill calmness. I am able to bring parties together to reach a satisfactory resolution on even the most contentious cases.

Divorce is not just a legal process. It is an emotional earthquake. I know this because I lived it.

I am a Collaborative Family Law, Elder Law, and Estate Planning Attorney who guides clients before, during, and after divorce. I am also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator since 2010, as well as a Certified County Mediator, Parenting Coordinator, Divorce Adviser, and Divorce Coach.

I endured a seven year, highly litigious, and cost prohibitive divorce that profoundly changed the course of my life. I understand firsthand the emotional and financial challenges involved. Yet from that painful chapter, something powerful and unexpected emerged.

From that negative, a positive was born. I became a mediator and an attorney.

After my divorce, I made a conscious decision to practice law differently. I believe divorce does not have to be a battle, there is another way. The mediation way. This experience, combined with my legal training and education, allows me to help clients transition through divorce with clarity, compassion, and confidence; finding solutions that preserve families, not destroy them.

I earned an Associate in Arts degree from Miami-Dade College, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a double major in Management and Marketing from Florida International University, a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Barry University and a Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, along with an Elder Law Certificate.

I am a native Floridian of Cuban descent, fluent in English and Spanish and a proud mother to three children. I understand the weight of family decisions, the importance of active listening, and the courage it takes to begin again.
